Brand Monitor is CogNerd’s core tracking tool. It queries ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, DeepSeek, Grok, Perplexity, Microsoft Copilot, You.com, and more than ten other AI platforms to find every mention, citation, and recommendation your brand receives. Each analysis delivers a full visibility report — including sentiment, source attribution, competitor appearances, and actionable alerts — streamed to your screen in real time as results arrive.
Running a full brand analysis costs 30 credits. Analyses are logged to your history so you can compare results over time without re-running them.

What Brand Monitor tracks

Brand Monitor interrogates AI platforms using a curated set of prompts relevant to your industry. For each platform it collects:

Visibility score

A 0–100 score measuring how prominently your brand appears on that platform. Rolls up into your overall AI Visibility Score.

Mentions and citations

Direct mentions by name, plus citations where AI models link or attribute content to your brand’s web properties.

Sentiment

Positive, neutral, or negative classification for each mention, with the surrounding context so you can read the full AI response.

Source attribution

The URLs and sources AI models used when generating answers that include your brand.

Competitor data

Which competitors appeared in the same answers, and how their prominence compares to yours.

Alerts

Flags for unusual activity — sudden drops in mentions, negative sentiment spikes, or a competitor pulling ahead.

Run a brand analysis

1

Open Brand Monitor

Go to Dashboard → Brand Monitor. If this is your first analysis, you’ll see a prompt to enter your brand details.
2

Confirm your brand details

Verify your brand name, website URL, and industry category. CogNerd uses these to generate the prompts it sends to AI platforms. Edit them in Settings → Brand Profile if they need updating.
3

Click Analyze

Click the Analyze button. The analysis starts immediately. Results stream to your screen using real-time updates — you don’t need to wait for all platforms to finish before reading early results.
4

Review the report

Once all platforms respond (typically under two minutes), the full report is assembled. Scroll through the platform breakdown, sentiment summary, source list, and alert panel.
Run analyses at consistent intervals — weekly or after publishing new content — so you can track score trends over time rather than relying on a single snapshot.

Reading your results

Platform breakdown

The platform breakdown table shows one row per AI platform. Each row displays:
  • Mentions — how many times your brand appeared in AI-generated responses on that platform
  • Citations — how many responses linked back to your website or content
  • Sentiment — the dominant tone (positive / neutral / negative) across all mentions
  • Platform score — a 0–100 sub-score for that platform, weighted by mention frequency, citation rate, and sentiment
Platforms where your brand doesn’t appear at all are shown in the table with a score of 0 — these are your highest-priority optimization targets.

Mentions and citations detail

Click any platform row to expand it and see the individual AI responses that mentioned your brand. Each entry shows:
  • The prompt CogNerd submitted
  • The full AI-generated answer
  • Highlighted portions where your brand appears
  • The specific URLs the AI cited

Sentiment breakdown

The sentiment panel shows the proportion of positive, neutral, and negative mentions across all platforms. Click a sentiment category to filter the mentions list to only responses of that type.
Negative sentiment on a major platform like ChatGPT or Gemini can influence how large audiences perceive your brand. Use the alert panel to set up notifications when negative sentiment exceeds a threshold you define.

Alerts

Alerts fire automatically when Brand Monitor detects meaningful changes between your current and previous analyses:
Alert typeTrigger
Visibility dropOverall score falls more than 10 points
Sentiment spikeNegative mentions increase by more than 20%
Competitor surgeA competitor’s mention count grows significantly relative to yours
New citation sourceA new domain starts being cited alongside your brand

View analysis history

Every completed analysis is saved. Access your history at Dashboard → Brand Monitor → History, or by calling GET /api/brand-monitor/analyses. Each entry in the history shows the date, overall score, and a summary of changes since the prior run — so you can spot trends without opening each report individually.
Use the history view to correlate visibility score changes with content you published or GEO files you deployed. This helps you understand which optimizations are working.

Scrape brand info

Before running a full analysis, CogNerd can scrape your website to extract and verify brand information — your tagline, product descriptions, leadership names, and structured data. This improves the quality of prompts sent to AI platforms. To trigger a scrape manually, go to Settings → Brand Profile and click Re-scrape website. You can also trigger it via POST /api/brand-monitor/scrape.
Brand Monitor currently queries ChatGPT (OpenAI), Claude (Anthropic), Gemini (Google), DeepSeek, Grok (xAI), Perplexity, Microsoft Copilot, and You.com, plus additional platforms that vary by your plan. The platform list expands as CogNerd adds integrations.
Most analyses complete within 60–90 seconds. Results stream in as each platform responds, so you can start reading before all platforms have finished.
Yes. There’s no cooldown between analyses. Each run costs 30 credits, and each result is saved independently to your history.
CogNerd generates prompts based on your industry, brand name, and product category. Examples include “What are the best tools for [your category]?” and “Tell me about [your brand name].” You can view the exact prompts used in each analysis by expanding the platform detail panel.
